Collages
Anaïs Nin
First edition, 1964, Jacket design by Keith Cunningham
With only a few minor scratch marks and rubbings, the book's striking dust jacket is in excellent condition. There is a slight break in the central binding but the pages are still very much intact. The book also contains no evidence fading or yellowing.
In Collages Anaïs Nin ventures into a new form, discarding conventions which sometimes restrict the structure of the novel. Using an imaginative and colourful style, she explores fragmentary patterns of characters and thier relationships against the continually changing backgrounds of Vienna, Mexico, California and New York.
Anaïs Nin was born in Paris in 1903. Her first book was published in the 1930s, and she went on to write stories and a series of autobiographical novels, as well as her celebrated volumes of erotica. Perhaps best known for her Journals, her personal life and loves have attracted considerable attention -- partly through her association with Henry Miller and his wife but also because for a number of years she was married to two men at the same time, with neither finding out until after her death in 1977.
