A handful of copies of this edition have been reserved for the archive and for distribution to Donaldson fans – for contractual reasons, we will not be producing a paperback or any other version of this book, so this is the last chance to purchase this unique work, one of the most enjoyably mischievious autobiographies ever written.
Each copy will come with a unique package of selected memorabilia from our voluminous editorial and publicity files on this book – easily the most surreal project in Peter Owen's long history. All buyers will be the exclusive owners of facsimiles of Donaldson's correspondence with our long-suffering editors, edited excerpts from (probably) the most hilarious libel report ever compiled as well as copies of surely the only style sheet that has farceur followed by crack-house – and some lucky buyers will be one of the first to find out who Donaldson called 'a mad old cow' or 'a mad old fuck' etc etc.

The theory has long abounded in these offices that this stream of bile (about his own book) was from Donaldson himself but, sadly, this can no longer be proved. Strangely, none of the team can remember if our correspondent received his refund either . . .
