Archive > A note from Frank to Peter

We’ve found a lovely thing in our archives today!

Frank Dickens, the creator of the tubby, long-suffering clerk Bristow (the longest-running newspaper cartoon from a single artist), wrote a thriller called A Curl Up and Die Day that Peter Owen published in 1980. And in Peter’s copy of the book is a personal note and a little cycling Bristow of his very own – a nod to the author’s own passion for bicycle racing, which Peter knew of well.

Frank Dickens sadly passed away at the beginning of this month, and we’re very happy to count this among the many treasures that Peter held onto over the years.
