Both Giorgio Armani and Manchester United’s Juan Mata are big fans of Hermann Hesse.

David Gray’s album, Mutineers, was directly influenced by Tarjei Vessas’s novel The Boat In The Evening. In fact, the liner notes say: ‘Anyone wanting to further appreciate the sense of expectation and wonder that permeates the song should try and get their hands on a copy of The Boat In The Evening and read the original.’ We couldn’t agree more. . .
