Publisher Peter Owen’s memoir, NOT A NICE JEWISH BOY, written in conjunction with the talented writer and composer James Nye, who was a personal friend, is due out on 14 October in a handsome cased illustrated edition from Fonthill Media.

In it one learns of the maverick independent publisher’s progress from his birth in Nuremberg in 1927 – not long before Hitler came to power – to his eventful and entertaining life as a Jewish exile and career as one of the most important independent book publishers in England, his mother’s native country.

During his long career as company boss – he remained Chairman until his death in 2016 – he met and published some of the twentieth century’s most significant international writers, including 10 Nobel Prize winners.

The book is ready to pre-order from all the usual outlets, including here, where you can read a more detailed blurb: https://www.hive.co.uk/Product/Peter-Owen/Peter-Owen-Not-a-Nice-Jewish-Boy–Memoirs-of-a-Maverick-Publisher/26286539
