• Half a Pound of Tuppenny Rice

The west coast of Cornwall was the perfect setting for an idyllic summer break.
Every year a group of families would holiday together at the same hotel.
But the events of one week in 1972 meant they would never meet up again.
That was the week the hotel’s night porter was fatally poisoned,
and the body of a guest washed ashore . . .

Grant Morrison, then aged seventeen, has long been troubled by the two deaths and the subsequent questioning from the police. Decades later, he decides that the time has come to uncover the truth. He tracks down the offspring of the family members who were questioned that day, and heads back to the West Country to pursue his obsessive quest to resolve the mystery. But why does he feel he is being watched, and why does he keep hearing eerie voices singing ‘Half a Pound of Tuppenny Rice’? He has a strange feeling someone is trying to put him off the scent. Rekindling connections with childhood friends, he acquires a home movie of that fateful Cornish vacation, shedding further light on a murky past. A showdown at the village of Mevagissey results in a third death, and, when the surviving holiday-makers are reunited at the inquest, the truth is uncovered and the ‘weasel’ revealed. But after the church memorial service something even more troubling awaits them at the graveyard …
