Evelyn Farr

EVELYN FARR is an historian and author. Inspired by her M.Phil thesis on Jane Austen, Fanny Burney and the 18th-century novel, she wrote the The World of Fanny Burney, a commentary on Fanny Burney's diary entries, first published in 1993.

Farr’s next study, Before the Deluge, focused on the Parisian high-life in the years leading up to the French Revolution. While writing it she uncovered material that impelled her to shed more light on Marie-Antoinette’s love affair with the Swedish Count Axel von Fersen, which became the subject of two groundbreaking books through which she rocked the French historical establishment.
