LEE SEUNG-U (born 1959) is an award-winning South Korean novelist. He studied Theology at University and his fiction, which comprises nine novels and several collections of short stories, is characterized by how the spiritual intersects with the everyday. In much the same way as the Japanese novelist, Shusaku Endo, lee Seung-U uses the novel as a creative vehicle to interrogate his Christian faith and its place in the modern world. He is professor of Korean literature at Chosun University.
